Donate materials
The University library acquires book collections and individual works, mainly through donations, but occasionally through purchase. If you wish to donate materials, please contact us. Below is further information about which materials we are able to receive, and about the terms and conditions for donation and delivery.
Donate books
We are particularly interested in materials pertaining to Gothenburg and West Sweden, as well as west Swedish local history, first editions, maps and map materials, music prints, vaudeville and theatre history, books with interesting provenances, biographical material with connections to Gothenburg and nearby areas, shipping, local industrial and corporate history, materials pertaining to the lives of various minorities of west Sweden, Swedish and foreign artists, poets, writers and more.
Donate archives and manuscripts
KvinnSam and the Manuscript section welcomes donations of archival materials from individuals and associations. The donation process is associated with no costs for donors.
KvinnSam is mainly interested in archival materials relevant to women's history and gender history. The Manuscript section welcomes archival materials within humanities and the history of science, with a focus on west Sweden.
We will assess donations on a case by case basis, to see whether they are a good fit for our collections. If your archive materials are found to be beyond the acquisition scope of the Gothenburg university library, we are happy to help you find the right institution to receive your materials. We have numerous collaborations with other heritage institutions - libraries, archives and museums.
We will help you along the way - please contact us if you have any questions about how to proceed with a donation.
